What is Granite?

Granite is known to be Earth's oldest building material. It is an igneous rock that is formed from liquid magma. Granite has a crystalline structure that proves to be very striking and very noticeable. It differs in the following characteristics: color, texture, and crystalline structure. It has three important common minerals which are: 50% or more Feldspar, 25-40% Quartz and 3-10% Mica. Because of these minerals, Granite has very unique compositions in terms of its different characteristics.

Using Granite in construction

In using Granite in construction, the consistency of the stone in terms of color and texture is very important. To achieve this, quarrying from the same deposit of the same granite color should be done.

It does not only provide storage and extra space for kitchen work but it also creates a focal point in the whole kitchen area. A kitchen island should meet the needs of the client and the kitchen. It should be equipped with a lot of workable and functional elements so that it will create a connection between the other work areas of the kitchen.

Kitchen islands should be planned and designed very well. Sizing is very important such that 3-feet distance should be set between the edge and side of a kitchen island and any kitchen appliance or furniture piece. A kitchen island should ideally have a size of around 10 feet in length and 5 to 6 feet in depth. Ideal height should be around 3 feet.

On the other hand, Granite as a material for Kitchen Island is very good as this helps in easy cleaning as well long-term usage. Having a granite kitchen island is actually a recommendable option because of the many positive reasons stated already above. A granite kitchen island can definitely serve as a focal point in any type of kitchen since a granite kitchen island has the properties of durability and stability.
